Most business owners know what it’s like to set goals that never quite get done. It’s rarely a lack of effort or creativity — it’s the lack of a system to connect big ideas to daily actions and keep momentum going.
That’s where the OKR framework (Objectives and Key Results) comes in. At our recent Goals That Stick session, we walked through how OKRs help you move from vague hopes to measurable outcomes — and how to celebrate progress in ways that keep motivation alive.

Why Systems Work
Too often, goals fizzle out because they’re not backed by a structure. OKRs provide:
Clarity, focus, and accountability
A way to track real progress (not just activity)
Repeatable habits that keep momentum alive
Motivation through consistent check-ins and rewards
Think of OKRs as the bridge between inspiration and execution.

The framework is simple:
Objective – What you want to achieve (inspiring and meaningful)
Key Results – How you’ll measure success (specific and outcome-based)
Actions – The daily and weekly steps that make it happen
Example:
Objective: Improve online presence
Key Result 1: Post 3x per week
Key Result 2: Grow followers by 15%
Key Result 3: Increase engagement by 20%
Actions: Batch-create posts, schedule weekly check-ins
How to Make Goals Stick
Here’s the process we walked participants through, using the handout worksheet:
Define Your Objectives
Choose 1–2 inspiring goals that align with where your business is headed.
Break Them Into Key Results
List 3–5 measurable milestones that prove you’re on track.
Map Weekly Actions and Habits
Write down the repeatable steps you’ll take each week.
Plan Rewards and Celebrations
Progress is more sustainable when you recognize wins along the way — whether it’s a solo treat or a team celebration.

Tools to Get You Started
To make this easier for you, we’ve included two resources from the workshop:
📥 Download the OKR Worksheet
📥 Download the Full Presentation
You can use the worksheet to map your own OKRs and the slides as a reference when you revisit your goals.
As we mentioned in the workshop, we prefer to use Miro for visually mapping goals. You can use my basic template here.
Final Thoughts
Setting goals is easy. Making them stick takes structure, accountability, and the right mindset. By using OKRs, you’ll have a clear roadmap for your objectives and a way to keep motivation strong through meaningful progress and celebration.
Now it’s your turn — grab the worksheet, set your objectives, and see how much more your goals can do when they’re built to stick. The secret is in the follow-through. Assign tasks with due dates, celebrate wins, do things that matter. Repeat. Edit (August 20,2025) - Here are some snapshots and the wordcloud images from the event!
